One of, if not the best shop I've ever dealt with. Awesome shop, awesome people and I just couldn't say enough good things about them. Worth stopping in if you in the area and even worth the drive down if you in the market for a high end bike or gear.
Oh and it's like a porn shop for bicycle stuff.

I don't see anything wrong with it being here. People want choice and as such they may choose to shop at this store.
It looks massive and has a great selection, perhaps parts and bikes you may not be able to easily find in Canuckistan.
Oh and no you don't pay duties on bike parts. You pay duties on complete bikes and completely built wheels. HST yes, but that is to be expected.
Don't like it, don't drive south to buy it.

No duty on bike parts. No duty on a complete bike made in the USA. You only have to pay HST when you cross the border. WA State tax will be added to purchases in the shop but you'll find that you'll still save money. Plus, it's the coolest bike shop I've ever been in - so many bling bikes and parts on hand. And when saving money and incredible selection isn't enough, you'll be helped by some absolutely awesome guys in the shop.
I ride down in Galbraith quite often and rarely buy anything from Fanatik. Great shop, good guys but I always find my stuff cheaper or very close to their price here in Canada.

Ummm maybe and this is just a maybe, the traffic to the NSMB site is coming from further away then just the North Shore. A ton of people drive up to Vancouver and Whistler via Bellingham, so maybe Fanatik thinks it's a worth it to advertise here on the site.
also a few people here find the drive to Fanatik worth it(they also do on-line sale too)
And why does everyone bring up the duty cost? There is very little that is bicycle related that get's charged duties and last time I check you have to pay HST at the LBS here too…..
I don't think Fanatik is the end all answer, but they are a very viable place to shop if you are looking for good pricing and service.
Sweet shop to check out for sure. Lots of high end parts and bikes. Always had friendly conversations with staff when I've dropped by the old shop. B-ham has a very cool riding scene, check it out.

Sorry guys but I don't see the hype. Was in the neighborhood today so I stopped by expecting to see some sort of bike superstore full of awesome deals. What I found was a pretty poorly stocked store with a limited selection of brands. Staff was pleasant but I can name 10 shops in Vancouver that have better selection and pricing. Not worth a trip across the border even for high end purchases.

Really? Name them.
I know several Canucks that have bought several BIG purchases there - specifically because of their selection/service. I don't know many shops that sell (and stock) more bikes and I travel a fair bit.
Also, all of the employees/owners shred and dig - plus are knowledgeable about the products they sell.
Name issues aside (sure that Sylvie and Scott scratch their heads about that!), they are a great shop.
