Wtb larger snowboard

im a snowboard newb but I want to buy a used board and bindings. Not sure what I actually need

50/50 groomers with the kids and sled lap pow

Size 11 shoes 200 lbs

How was my 158? Did you feel like you needed a bigger board?

I've got a 158 wide burton custom x with lg burton cartel bindings for sale

Wider board makes a big difference for those of us with larger feet

I didn't really do much pow on the 158 but it was fine on groomers. Problem is I don't know anything about snowboards so I'm unsure what to buy. At most I'd do 5 to 7 days a year, I pretty much realized last year that sledding in ski boots sucks ass and most sledding days I'd rather just ride the sno mo. Casual family laps on blues gets boring on the skis so it's nice to change it up with the board

Rat, at 200lbs, you might want to look at 160-165cm.

My pow boards have been a K2 Gyrator 162, Salomon Sick Stick 156 (RIP), Salomon Sick Stick 160. I weigh ~145lbs, and have normal size feet. K2 is pretty darn stiff, and full rocker, SS 156 was so fun, but setback ~2", 160 is great, offers plenty of float while riding close to centred stance. If a 158 was made, I'd go with that. SS has slight tapered tail, and shovel nose/tail so it runs shorter than it is.
I use the SS 160 for everything, catboarding, hiking, inbounds, groomers. I seldom ride my AM/park board as I'd rather take the skis out for that type of sheit.

You might want to size up on board length. What size are your snowboard boots?

Depends on your riding style, but at your weight I'd lean toward wider, longer and stiffer, 165-170 should do it. Something with a bigger nose and a slightly smaller tail will give you good float and maneuverability in powder. For the 50% that you're on hardpack with the kids, the Magnetraction [wavy edges by any other name/mfg] works like a charm on hard snow. Example boards are Rossignol Experience [love this board!] or One, Jones Flagship, Burton Custom, K2 Peacekeeper, Ride Highlife Wide.

How much will I need to pony up for a decent board and bindings?

I'd prefer used for cheap. If it's anything like skis, Used is a bargain or is this not the case for boards?
