Anyone Ski today?

Yeah it was really good in the morning cleaning up some of the stashes off of Crystal though it shut down (guessing winds) around lunch. Patroller trees were still decent until I popped off a log a found a pile of windfall. It was coming down rain/snow on the cat track out so I decided to bail on tomorrow.

anyone ever seen that much snow forecast for one night?!
too bad it'll be too warm to be any good.

What kind of noob are you? Check the Blackcomb patrol forecast.

40mm of rain with 1500m freezing level does not translate into 90cm of snow with a closed alpine.

At 11:20pm it's +1.7 at Pig Alley, ain't going to be nothing but schmoooooo on Sunday.

But that wack forecast will have everyone horny for snow and in line tomorrow.

In theory, if you could find skiable terrain in whistler between 1900m and 2200m, you should be alright.

200cm at 1890m on Whistler. Blowing pretty hard all day, rain crust 30cm down, heavier above but consolidating nicely. Reactive layer 63cm down to a rather large consolidated slab ( ~75cm - we didn't measure it) then softer snow beneath on a ~10cm layer of facets to ground.

It was snowing above the roundhouse, probably above chic pea.

Can't see any explosives go off. Surely that's not a natural that they just happened to film?

Debate? Bikes are made for riding not pushing.

Just thought it interesting to see such a bold amount forecast, that's all. I did not expect good skiing with that freezing level.

Just poking fun at ya.

I think it was the marketing dept getting in an early season funny.

Between the Blackcomb forecast and online telemetry it's nice to not have to rely on the crap forecast they post.

I skied on Blackcomb yesterday afternoon. It was the quietest I've ever seen the mountain. Granted, it was a bit breezy at the top but I didn't get wet because the weather cleared!! :-)
