Had given up on today until I heard they were going for red chair. So much snow up there, alpine will be very slabby/sketchy and very busy tomorrow.
WTH happened today? Obviously crazy busy in the morning, but by 1130AM it was DTL on 7th until we left at 2 (with thigh-deep fresh lines still all over the place).

no kidding, after our first peak lap to the valley around noon there was no lines at creekside, red, or peak, so good!
Not as good as Tuesday, but that wasn't a horrible way to spend the morning :D
We had Fresh Tracks tix to use up so we hit Whistler. Snow was deep! Face-shots where we weren't expecting them - in pretty mellow terrain!
Called it quits just after 11 as the winds were getting a little gusty ([HTML_REMOVED]100kph) and the chairlift (Emerald) was barely moving. Wasn't surprised to see Red was shut down when I got back to the village.
Here's hoping the alpine opens tomorrow!

20cm of snow! Not Again!
Decided to make a road trip to Whistler since high winds and pukage suggested the alpine wouldn't open.
Got under the garbonzo line in the first group, was actually the first person after the short climb.
I turned around to see where Lee was and I felt like Sgt Elias in Platoon when he was being chased down by the Viet Cong. After crashing I was passed by LOTS of people and continued down in a less frenzied pace.
Skied more trees off Garbonzo and Green before Red and the Gondola shut down.
Quit at 12:30 since most lifts weren't running due to winds and avi conditions.
Tomorrow should be EPIC!

today was a good day to be wearing a patrol jacket.
pretty slabalicious up high, trees will ski well but not sure about much else.
gonna be a big avy cycle…
I went off a 10 foot cliff into a depression yesterday off garbonzo and dragged a bunch a snow down on top of me. I was fully buried and skiing by myself, fucking scary experience. it took 20 minutes to dig myself out abd at the beginning my head was buried about a foot under the snow.

Im glad I generally landed feet down or it could have been a lot worse

that's really scary….a local came across a dude stuck head first in a tree well yesterday and had to dig him out, apparently pretty much saved his life….ugh! glad you're alright!

That sent chills down my spine. I ride alone pretty often. Glad you made it out okay
Why slag free swag?
ummm, as your doctor i recommend against riding with a scaphoid fracture.

Had I been on a snowboard and not been able to release my bindings things would have been more serious.

^^ Glad that story ended well. I think there are a few from Whistler today that didn't.
~2:30 we saw a chopper with a long-line and what looked like 2 patrol suspended from the line with a spine-board between them. Also witnessed one guy overshoot the waterfall with far too much speed / height / distance and was buried on impact. Scary stuff - healing vibes and hoping for good outcomes.
Epic mid-mountain skiing in the morning. Then we managed to hit Harmony from the T-bars before Harmony was loading - DEEP! Snuck in 1 other Harmony lap before the line-up destroyed us. T-bar and Peak laps to round out the day.
Had some good times inbounds this week, but weekends = touring!

you should have skied with us! you know it would have been on film and we would have dug you out after getting the appropriate footage of Lee gapping you.
Today's vid!
Sorry, inbounds is done. If you weren't up today you missed out!
