tomorrow am will still be good, then we're gonna have a bit of an avy cycle as summer starts this weekend!
On the avy note:
Special Public Avalanche Warning for Backcountry Recreationists in Sea-to-Sky and Northern Interior of BC
Recreational users urged to exercise caution and restraint.
Avalanche Canada is issuing a special public avalanche warning for the Sea to Sky region including areas adjacent to but outside the ski area boundary of Whistler-Blackcomb, the North Columbia, Cariboos and North Rockies regions. This warning applies to recreational backcountry users and is in effect from March 24 to March 29.
A winter of unusual weather has created a complex and unpredictable snowpack, explains Avalanche Canada Public Avalanche Warning Service Manager Karl Klassen. Avalanches are being triggered both in the newer, surface snow and in deeper layers that formed earlier in the winter, said Klassen. This challenging scenario is resulting in numerous close calls and led to two fatalities this past weekend.
These conditions are expected to continue for some time and Avalanche Canada recommends backcountry users stay on simple, low-angle terrain; avoid large, steep slopes; minimize exposure to overhead hazard; avoid travelling where other users are on slopes above; and re-group in safe zones away from avalanche run-outs until conditions improve. If you do not have the training or experience to assess avalanche terrain and local conditions, its a good idea to recreate where avalanche risk is professionally managed.
Snow!! Was almost weird being out when it's dumping again, on the mountain it was snowing from joyride jump park and up. Snow at my place in alpine Meadows too
Anyone else get out today? Velvet down to the bottom of Emerald. Fresh Tracks started at 1:30.
First time I closed down Emerald in years.
Nobody is coming up and it's been some of the best days of the year lately
April is the new February.
Only a few centimetres reported over night but there's at least a foot in lots of places. Had my best run of the year this morning before work; up 7th right as it opened then one of the first few into false face/Sudan/whatever it's called, so weird to be full on winter mode mid mtn and up, but no sign of winter in the valley at all haha.
Snowing! In the village! A lot! What a weird year

Whistler skiing extended to June 7,crazy
More air-baggin' and mogul course building this weekend! Great times for the freestyle kids. The boy got his 720's and the girl got her front flip. Hard to pick between the bike park and the skiing when it's this good. Plus I can ride weekdays, but can't ski weekdays.
Up with the racers this weekend. Super soft but super fun. Warm weather wax is highly recommend.
