There is no such thing as "Mandarin writing". Written Chinese is logosyllabic - characters can represent hieroglyphs, phrases, words, concepts or syllables. Chinese language speakers from each of the major Chinese language groups (of which Mandarin is one) who often cannot understand each other through spoken communication can communicate by reading and writing. (Assuming they aren't limited by either simplified or traditional characters).
