Well, spring traverse season is upon us. Anyone have any cool trips planned?

I know a lot of the province is dealing with the unknown re-activity of the PWL's deep in the snowpack, but things look relatively stable around here.

Last year we did the Garabaldi Neve over Easter weekend, under perfect conditions. This year we may head up into the Trophy Range behind Clearwater to do a traverse or ride some corn.

nice, my traverse plans have been replaced with some resort skiing and trail running so not all bad. Still hoping to climb one big mountain before the season is done.

From Wayne Flann: http://www.wayneflannavalancheblog.com/
"Hi Wayne, these photos taken morning of April 9th. Very dramatic crown line taking out entire NW face of Matier (crown also visible bottom right). Step down to early winter pwl due to wind event? Debris pile was close to a kilometer from face onto glacier."

Yeah, I saw that this morning. Interesting that the face went, considering it's NW facing. I guess you can't really put a lot of trust in anything this year.

When I was referencing everything around 'here' seems quite tightened up, I was more referring to the North Shore. Lots of rain and now the sun has eliminated any weak layers in the snowpack.

We might venture out and do a little traverse in the back yard this weekend. Will post photos next week! :D

Might get out for a spring tour April 26-27….

Otherwise my weekends are booked until May 10-11 and there won't be much snow left by then…

there is some talk of something in the next few weeks. not sure what we will do but I am not ready to put the board away just yet. also got an invite for a 10 day trip in May, but I dont think I can swing that one.

Just a speculative fiction. No cause for alarm.

I'm going to Baker Easter long weekend all 4 days. Hope the weather cooperates… At the minimum I'd like to do a good long day trip.

Ended up doing a nice little non-traditional traverse yesterday. Went from Cypress to Lions Bay.

That's cool!

I'm heading out Saturday - exact plans unknown at the moment, but may go for the Mt Wash to Forbidden Plateau traverse.

Baker was rad! Lots of new snow (welcomed surprise) Should be good for some time, over 2.5 meters with my probe and still couldn't touch the bottom. Even had the time to play find the buried beacon with the kids! good times.

Do they try and discourage you from skinning up Cypress once it's closed? Would be fun to do some speedy slush laps in the sun.

Headed out this weekend. Went up Mt. Brooks. If you've ever been to Mt Washington, there are two smaller peaks in the foreground as you look from the lodge towards Mt Albert Edward and some of the larger Island peaks - Brooks is the larger of the two on the right.

Had a bit of a route finding issue on the way up, but made the peak! All in - six hour tour from the Raven lodge and return.

There had been enough new snow that there wasn't the usual spring pine needles and sap everywhere. The snow up top skied really well!

Pictures / blog post to follow tonight.

There are various signs that say "Thou shall not pass!" but I've never had any problems going up there after they've closed for the season.
