Anybody have links or numbers for a basic course around Vancouver? Something I've been meaning to do for years and with the recent deaths and rescues it seems like a good idea to do it now.

Take an avalanche course. I did mine with Canada West last year http://www.themountainschool.com/avalanche-course.html

If you don't mind winter camping, BCMC has a course that runs over two weekends

There is one at Brohm Ridge this weekend. Niko Weis a 22 year avalanche professional. He is awesome. He was also one of the first pro skateboarders….

It is at the Brohm Ridge Cabin and you need to find a way up if you don't have a sled but they will accomodate that. Super fun and a perfect place to learn…
