Zero visability today. I had flashbacks of coming out of the womb. I was wet and couldn't see anything. Couldn't even find my truck in the parking lot. Coming down I was marveling at how I couldn't see the trailhead for CBC from the road when I realized some kids had driven across the road in front of me and smoked the concrete baricade. Kudos to 1990 Oldsmobiles though. They shoved the baricade right over and they were all fine and the car was still driveable.

Bump?

Anyone have an update, I was thinking bout trying skinning this weekend, should I wait for softer snow?

I was up tonight right after closing.
Skinned up the groomers and down again.
Anything off the runs are pretty ugly.
Nice sunset though.

sounds pretty slick on all the locals. Unfortunately a group snowshoeing slipped and one person died.

While it's sad that he died, It really does annoy me that people still get all macho and decide to cross into off-limit areas.

Crown pass and over to dam mountain? Brutal area when it's icy. I know a guy who had the terrible job of body recovery up there and his stories are bad.

The terrain behind grouse is not 'out of bounds' technically. It's back country and legit for access just like flute or brohm ridge. As Tim Jones said, if you go you should be prepared.

I skinned up for dawn this morning, ditched the skis and cramponed/ice axed up to first pump. Nasty cold and windy up there but a great sunrise.

snow shoes are the wrong tool for the job in these conditions. the average joe, just bought some snowshoes at mec is in for a world of hurt.

I was surprised at how good the snow was today. Perfect carving snow and nice for slalom training - nice and hard for the edges. We were training GS on Cypress yesterday and there were abundant death cookies - none to be found on Seymour today.

A little wet up there tonight. Snow is holding out for now but it had better start snowing soon - although a good cold snap would make for good training conditions.
