Snowboarding help

Totally.
I was a hardboot guy back in the day. Got mocked often. People seem to forget that there used to be dozens of kind of snowboards and boot/binding combination. Then profit and ease of manufacturing outranked any desire to support the myriad specialists and now everyone thinks snowboarding is riding a 160cm twin tip freeride board with soft boots.

Once dialled, hardboots are so comfortable, warm and so wickedly easy in/out of bindings. Plus my old Raichles were barely stiffer than your stiffer soft boots. It's weird that people have such revulsion towards them.

Splitboarding with softboots is a damn inelegant solution that could be so well handled by the right hardboot. Sadly the numbers just aren't there yet that any manufacturer could reasonably build one. Luckily some of the softer AT boots are pretty damn close. It's unfortunate to buy $600+ boots and start modifying them…

Second this. My Salomon Malamutes are considered some of the stiffer boots (along with the Driver Xs), and 10 days in they feel like they've gone from wearing in to wearing out. Go stiffer!

I guess I'm not thrashing them hard ebnough, I've put maybe 50 days in mine and they still seem pretty stiff to me.

For those who like to keep their boots forever, do you guys know a place that can re-sole snowboard boots?

I've never worn the soles off a pair of boots and if that's the case I'm pretty sure I'd toss em in the trash. If the soles are starting to de-laminate though you can try this stuff:
http://www.mec.ca/AST/ShopMEC/HikingCamping/MaintenanceRepair/PRD~0799-130/mcnett-freesole-shoe-repair.jsp

This stuff is much much better than shoe-goo (which doesn't stay flexible in the cold). Plus this shit is known to cause Cancer in the state of California, so what else could you really want as a gaurantee?

Last season I picked up a pair of 32 TM-2s on the cheap from backcountry. Took them to destination to get fitted, best boots I've owned to date. I'll go with 32s until someone else makes a decent boot. Even Better if I can get super stiff shells on the cheap and get some proper intuition liners in there

ummm, as your doctor i recommend against riding with a scaphoid fracture.

Too long? 155cm's seems way short to me unless your a midget or only riding grommers or park or something :S My ex-gf at only 5'4 rips the shit out of a 160 all day every day

I guess it's all personal preference and where you ride; I've done a season here on a 159 and am much happier and less tired on the 165 wide at the end of the day. 95% pow days though

Height does not have a lot to do with it. Weight and boot size are what maters. Unless she is 150+ pounds she is probably not getting the board to do what it is designed to do, even if it is a super soft 160.

only 35 but still beat the 30-39 BC cup Champion 4 out of 6 races

I went from a 166 mojo rx to a 160 Jones solution and I couldnt be more happy. I still enjoy taking out the 166 but over all I have more fun on the 160.

So who makes the stiffest boot? I don't play in the terrain park for fear of breaking myself and find the boots I bought with my setup too soft.

Have you got any old ski boots kicking Around? I used to put the liner/shell in sorels before they even made decent board boots. Don't know how that geto fix would work in your boots though.
Ya never a tweaker myself…more of a soul carver man…far out and groovy.

Burton Driver X and Salomon Malamute are the apparent stiffest boots. K2 T1s might be up there, maybe the Deelux Spark boots

the 32 Prime is stiff too. I tried the Malamutes and Driver X on and they are very stiff but didn't fit my wide feet so I went with another pair of 32's. Feels just like banging the ex-GF; super familiar and comfy

Evolution in Whistler had em on sale for $99 this morning (retail at $369), super good deals in a few select sizes you should call tommorow and see if they have any left. For once having big wide feet actually paid off
