Those who live/ski or have skied in Smithers:

Is Mid March too warm to go to Smithers to ski (for good snow)?

I've got a trip late Feb to Rogers Pass setup and plan to do a trip to Smithers this winter but want to space out the trips. I could go early Feb but mid March would be easier to plan/fit in.

Thoughts? Early Feb or Mid March?

Thanx

Yeah mid march should be good, should be OK, thats when we have the extreme Everest challenge, which have been some COLD nights

The last week of ops at Burnie hut in april my buddy the ski guide said "that was the best skiing I done all season and that includes 6 weeks of guiding heli skiing (at last frontier)"

But really I don't think there is enough going on in a small town to attract the wealthy focus group

Altho I have met a number of folks who have moved here for that very experience

http://www.hudsonbaymountain.com/events_calendar

you can see ^^ from the calendar of events that march is the big month at HBM when the hill is operational all month, as for snow last year the Canadian ski cross championships got moved at the very last minute due to lack of snow in PeeG so we had 9 days straight days of events being the Shussboomer DH, Candaina ski cross champs, Extreme Everset Challenge

so there shoudl be enough snow

If 2 come there will be articles in the local rag exclaiming "Number of Azn Tourons up 100%"
