not making excuses for dumb sledders but deep pow sledding is way harder to learn than skiing IMO. 1 have about 30 days on a sled and im a newb. its the hardest to learn sport I have ever done.

I wasn't talking about the skill required to be proficient, just the barrier to entry.

Anyone with a credit card and a hand can run a snow machine (admittedly not well), but even if you have the ski equipment you are unlikely to go ski touring if you can't stand on skis or stop.

as for avy safety I think alot of guys get comfortable on slopes they have been on before and disregard conditions.

I've heard that sleds are hard to ride well in pow and I believe it but apparently for anyone who can ride a dirt bike the snow bikes can get them into the pow right away

Snowbike isn't a big alpine climbing machine. They are super fun in tight trees and rolling meadows with trees.

Great for high avy conditions really although you have to be aware of terrain traps The thing about skiing is if the snow is good you need a steep slope in that perfect 35-55 degree avy slope range.

Disagree….hadn't been on a new sled in about 5 years….the modern pow sleds are retread easy to get into a sketchy spot.

never sledded but I did my share of dirtbiking and the reason (among others ) i stay away from the anything with a motor is you can get stuck and be digging pullin pushn sweatin while skis or mtn bike … pickem up and carry

maybe its easier with new sleds but how easy is that

One of my friends knew his family, sad day for sure. I'm not a sledder so I don't like commenting but I just can't wrap my head around climbing some of that terrain on a heavy sled, even with a bomber snowpack.
