It was a shit show up there last night. There was an accident on the road that shut it down for a few hours. Stopped riding at 6. Was home by 9. I live in North Van

kooks out in full force.
205 cm base right here, with lots of crusty layers to push through.
Nice Canada toque on the hoser.
Guy is a total punter!
Scored my first face shots on skis today.
Also my first eject. You know your effed when going they the pow and your left ski just decides to chill
Also almost wrecked my groin

Could be worse punky. I was following my friend in Burnt Stew about three weekends ago? Four? Anyway he did not see the small dip blew shoe and took a header. I just see him pitch forward looks funny is all but he says him neck hurts then he says his arm is numb down to his finger tips. Diagnose with a stinger which shouldn't be too bad. Two weeks later it it getting better but he has a painful event so goes to emerg. X rays show fractured facettes c 6 and c7. Gets plate installed, bone graft off pelvis. It looked such a non event when he crashed but he's super tall 6'7" long neck. Hopes to be back after 6 to 8 weeks.
Debate? Bikes are made for riding not pushing.
so - can anyone confirm that they have hiked Holyburn this week and actually got in some good turns? I dont want to head up there unless i know its going to be somewhat worth the hike
thanks in advance -
I'm ignoring Smedley.
this week, Sunday - yes, it was quite good. Sketchy little trees everywhere though. (photo above)
this week, Tuesday - same friends turned back at the start due to snowbombs from the trees. I imagine you've got some nice heavy schmoo now. There was a two day window IMO.

cool ..thanks for the update. At least I know that there is enough coverage - now I just got to time it with the next good dump. in the meantime - back to loops on Burnaby.

Hollyburn was teh super schmoo this morning.

Does that mean it was awesome or cypcrete?
There's nothing better than an Orangina after cheating death with Digger.
Stay away from Hollyburn. I was up on Sunday and it was awful. The freeze-thaw last week coupled with the tree bombs that heckler mentioned made conditions akin to sking over bowling balls frozen in place. Wait for more snow.
Way back from the old school days of NSMB…

Imagine if someone dumped a serving of mashed potatoes on top of an oversized piece of lego (bumpy side up).
Slightly better than survival skiing, but not by much. The tree bombs really screwed up the uptrack from the overnight lot. Lots of little switchbacks had to be made.
Lift accessed was marginal this morning. Off piste had 15-20 cm of the heaviest schmoo; still oddly fun, but what a workout. The best turns were on the top half of the mountain on the sides of the groomers. Managed to get lots of untouched turns in the fresh snow that had fallen since the groomers passed earlier in the morning. 8 quick laps and out of there by 11 as the temps were rising - boo.
