this is balls.
even NSR has posted the BC Parks announcement on their page as an "FYI". their primary concern being safety of course. but we all know, people who use the backcountry before 9am are more likely to be the ones who know how to use the backcountry. the ones who tend to need NSR are those who leave in the middle of the day or head out to watch the sunset at St Marks with one piddly torch.
it's pretty obvious what they're doing and Seymour does the same. we went up at 8am on sunday and had to park about 1km down on the road. i don't mind the extra distance, but they just need to be transparent. also, if parking is the issue, lots of ways to mitigate against that. have some paid parking (that you get reimbursed if you buy a lift ticket), have reserved parking etc.
but don't say it's for avalanche and grooming danger. that is some bullshit.
