Austria?

Kind of a long shot, but does anyone here have any recommendations for some early season skiing in Austria? I'll be spending a week there at the beginning of December and will get a few days in the mountains so I'm wondering where my best chances of snow might be. Google is a little confusing, and since I've never been there I'm not sure which of the 9 million resorts to even look at…

Thanks!

Yeah, that's what I figured, but thought it wouldn't hurt to ask here first.

I've skied the Montafon valley out of Schruns and tons of amazing skiing. No idea on what conditions will be like early season. But if you go and party in Schruns be sure to pack an extra liver. Mine hurt for months after, but was likely due to the crew I went there with.

Ive skied in Schladming, Dachstein glacier and few other places in that area early December. It was cold and icy-ish.. but blue skies… and generally awesome. I wouldnt hesitate to go back for a second. Espeically because Schladming is only about an hour by train from Salzburg. Go during Xmas and catch some world cup events! You'll have a good time, no matter what the snow quality.

Well, looks like St Anton might get the vote… it's supposed to open this weekend and snow there all week. I'll try and remember to update y'all to let you know how things go.

Cheers

Actually we're right now getting hit by a low from the Mediterranean which usually brings snow big time on north- and southside of the Alps and beefs up the little snow pack we got. At the very moment it's even snowing at most eastern foothills of the Alps.

2CH, where are you gonna stay?
Tirol, Vorarlberg: go Montafon, St.Anton
Salzburg: Obertauern, Zauchensee
