I think that the fine for not having winter tires when required was only $121. $109 for not having a minimum tread depth of 3.5mm on any tire.  Your lift ticket will cost you more than the traffic ticket :)

How is it you can get insurance for driving a vehicle in situations that make it a weapon?

Agree 100%.

The $2k fine was wishful thinking by myself, I figured it was at least $200 though. I think I have been through one maybe two tire checks ever at Squamish, and I ski Whistler pretty much every weekend through the winter, especially when it's dumping.

Fining people parked up there would be a great idea, one officer could hit the entire parking lot in an 8 hour shift I bet.

This is 100% it is. Its not just endangering yourself, i would be fine if it thats all it was, but you could literally kill someone because you cant stop. Fine should be 2k.

Winter tires should be mandatory country wide. Just because it doesnt snow doesn't mean that it doesn't get icy in the city. Cant afford them? Too fucking bad. Don't know why the province drags their feet on this. Seen so much carnage on the sea to sky and in Metro Van over the years.

If your picture is old they won’t mail it to you and they won’t tell you they aren’t mailing it.

Bunch of dumb fucks in Vail.

That's exactly what it was. That and I hadn't signed the bike park waiver...

Well looks like no roller coaster or water park is going to happen, for now at least. Vail has scaled back their expansion plans for W/B from $100 mil to $66 mil. Consideration of the water park is "deferred". New gondola going in from the upper village.

So does anyone have the inside scoop on how the lift tickets work this year? The website is so damn confusing... they don't list any prices and you have to search the exact day you want to go to get a price. And it looks like they are pricing the tickets in USD and then converting to CAD. For example, like for tomorrow the rate is $100USD and $128 CAD.... and that's just the prepurchase online rate - $139 at the window. Seems ridiculous.

So how does the pre-purchase work - if I buy a ticket for January 13th and I end up not being able to go that day, do I just lose it? Or can you use the credit for another day?

This is all part of attracting the multiple day tourist, rather than the local one day visitor. Trying to discourage people from the general area popping in for the day & not staying overnight. (many nights) I have relayed my displeasure to staff of having to name the day you bike/ski/ride several times. What if you get sick,  wipe out or have a mechanical problem? The remaining days are lost. It's bullshit.

Remember when you ate shit in the park/hill early in the season and they refunded you the money?

Well, they now sell season-pass insurance.

"Capitalism".  Just wish all you monkey's understood what "monopolization" meant.

You'll need to go into Guest Services, say, "Give me a fucking pass" and they will.
