Planning on doing the lions. It looks like a lot of the hike is fireroad. Is it possible to ride a mountain bike up the first bit and hike the last part? How far can you ride?

Iirc you can ride just past the turnoff for Mt Harvey. It doesn't really seem worth it while you are slogging your way up, but it sure saves time on the descent. I've done Harvey a few times by bike, including with a trailabike.
(You can do this on the Brunswick trail too, just turn left a bit earlier.)
I drove a '63 Valiant most of the way up that road. In the '80's.
