dammit. I can't come riding tonight - it turns out that the ankle I thought was sprained all this time is actually fractured and I should have been in an air cast this past month. I have to get it x-rayed again to make sure I haven't messed it up by walking around on it. All plans are on hold.

Sure wish they would have told me it was fractured when I got it x-rayed the FIRST time!

Well, they told me at emerg it was just a sprain - or the student doctor did - so I didn't worry about getting it looked at again. It's been a month and is still puffy and painful, and I figured that was a little long for a sprain, so I went it to see the doctor (not my doctor, she's on holiday) this week. He found the info in my records when he looked at them.

Are doctors offices supposed to get in touch with you when something like that goes to them from emergency? Or would they have figured that I was just being stupid and not going in to get a cast?

I'm pretty mad about the whole thing, and a little worried that I've done additional damage by walking on it.

I would be furious. They are the experts and would tell you whether you needed a cast or not. Everytime I have had xrays for breaks they diagnose on the spot. I can't understand how the information was in your file and nobody told you.

One time I had to go in for a test, it was pretty painful and then the results never made it to the specialist. He immediatley ordered another test. It was good times.

Well, from what I could see from my file today, the doctor in emerg diagnosed the break, but at the time when the student doctor (intern?) who was working there came back from talking to the doctor, he told me there was nothing wrong and I could go. I remember asking him again, to make sure, because I was surprised - my foot and ankle were huge - but he assured me I could go.

But wouldn't the office would do something - if emerg sends them the records right away, that is. At my old doctor, when I broke my hand they made an appointment with a specialist for me to get the cast done as soon as they knew it was broken.

I think that if they diagnosed the break there, they should have done something about it there, unless they had to wait for the swelling to go down. But then I would assume they would do something to immobilize it or tell you to see your family doctor right away. Sounds like the student doctor got a little mixed up on what was going on.

I hope it heals up quick for you. You deserve extra healing vibes for this.

Does a dirt jump session appeal to anybody? Maybe Myrtle or Loutet?

i was told i needed to post. so i'll make sense for a change. :P

take most girls out of their biking gear and full face and you'd be AMAZED what sexy creatures they become. atn try putting a super model in full armour on a bike with no make-up and caked in blood and sweat and see how good they look. the key is to
1. get us to quit (or at least take a day off) riding
2. buy us some sexy underwear and cute sandals
3. ply us with drinks so we'll model said underwear
4. convince us drape ourselves over bikes
and there… you have supermodel mtn biker chics. :)
note.. if this still doesn't work just ply yourself with some beers too. who said goggles were just for riding? :P

now im all HOt and bothered…
