Riding in New Zealand

Hey NSMB, I'm looking for some advice on where to ride in NZ other than Queenstown, which I definitely will be riding. My gf and I are headed down for a year and I'm taking my DH bike with me. If you've lived/visited or know someone who has ridden there I'd appreciate some "can't miss" locations to ride DH specifically.

Thanks in advance!

Shuttles in Rotorua: http://www.southstaradventures.com/

Good spots all over the country. I haven't been home for a few years, so will leave someone with more recent experience to give you a run down on the current situation.

Was there in march. Nelson on the south island was really good. Around lake Taupo, Wellington has a bunch of stuff. Like phixx said the entire country has something. Lots of hut to hut bike packing type trails as well. When I go back I'll for sure do more bikepacking there.

Nice thanks guys!

The bike packing sounds like fun, but maybe not so much with a DH bike? I should get my body used to pedaling more and get an all mountain there!

If you do want to do a bike pack, the Heaphy Track is incredible. I wrote a post about it when I did it a couple of years back: http://version3.co.nz/the-v3-guide-to-mountain-biking-the-heaphy/

unfortunately when I was there I had so many things to do I just did not have the time. Such a cool country, I love every thing about N-Z. Nice post BTW
