Hi,

Going to be in Palm Springs the third week of April for a week for a lazy vacation with the wife. I get bored sitting around the pool after a day or two so looking for things to do, will be hiking and sight seeing as well. I see there is some decently rated mountain biking around Cathedral City (Goal Trails system?). Anyone ever ride there? Would bring my kit and rent a bike for a few hours if anyone has a shop recommendations. Probably only ride once for 3-4 hours.

Forecast is for highs 32C-35C range so that could be a problem given you're exposed the entire time... maybe early morning or evening is best?

Cheers

Yup goat trails are fun. Get to the top of Murray peak and shred back down, super fun. It is pure exposure there so be prepared for a lack of shade.

Hah, I play a round every couple years maybe for a company tournament but am not a golfer.

I think that unless I can pack my bike gear without checking a bag (possible) I won't bother. Otherwise I'm looking at $50USD in checked bag fees plus bike rental is gonna be $50ish... $100USD for one ride in the scorching sun is steep. Will post back in here if I do it.

First time riding in desert climate Ranger at trail center advised us to double up on water. Saved us from an embarrassing death by desacation.

There were actual grave markers on trail at one point.

We ended up really using double what we'd normally use.
