if you parked in the overnight area at cyps xc i can't see how they can stop you from using the snowshoe trail to Hollyburn ridge as it's outside the xc ski area. cyps road also supposed to be open at the bottom until 11PM.

I snowshoed the hollyburn trail at Cypress a few days ago. It was fun (and free) - I have to go slow on the uphill, but at least it's all downhill on the way back.

we'll stick with 4 PM as the time, since that was the original plan.

Down to 2 options now - Fromme fireroad or Hollyburn trails on Cypress, which JLS snowshoed recently. I'm liking the Cypress option.

Bring a headlamp and a snack.

Rat, are you bringing snacks?

Don't forget headlamps. I'll bring backup HID, but everyone should have a LED at the least.

HID is way too much light (except for signalling search and rescue). LED's or 10 W halogen are the way to go.

cool. Cypress sounds like a good option. I'll duct tape a light to my head.

yeh i guess so eh, i used my led tonight and with hiking you pretty much look down, rather than down the trail (ie riding) so should be ok

steve you can use my spare led if you want.

Hey Sven,

My number 604 613 7003

I was lax in booking snowshoes from MEC and they are booked out. I am going to try Coast Mountain Sports tomorrow in the hope of getting something. Otherwise we are doubtful if snowshoes are a must.

Yesterday I took my sister and her boyfriend up the Fromme Firetrail, we hiked as far as pipeline trail entrance and the snow was knee deep there. So if the Fromme option goes ahead we might even come along without snowshoes as we know that we can get a fair way up without showshoes.

regardless I will call you tomorrow and see what the go is

crofty

I ride Bikes

Let's do Cypress - Hollyburn. JLS is our guide.

4 PM

Meet at the works yard at the BOTTOM of the road

- it's before the first switchback - there's a small gravel lot on the south side of the road, just before the booth and ski hill sign that's on the north side of the road.
