2 buddies and I are heading to Santa Cruz on July 24th to start a 10 day riding trip. We plan to head straight for the Bay area and slowly work our way back to Vancouver, riding every day or two in a new spot through CA, OR, and WA (driving between riding spots every day or two…not a bike 'tour' but we will be camping). Any suggestions on 'must ride' spots would be great. We're all on 6" to 7" coil sprung bikes and are looking for anything from high speed singletrack to dh or jump trails in California, Oregon, or Washington (already have plans to hit up Blackrock). We're piling into one full-size truck so shuttling is only an option if there are lots of other bikers around to bribe with beer.

Cheers!

I would recommend you hit up Galbraith Mt in Bellingham, WA. Hit up Scorpion/Evolution, and the Unemployment Line up there for starters. That said, be prepared to do a fair bit of hiking up.

Downieville. Fantastic!

If you like rides that start at 8000 - 9000+ feet and descend for 15+ miles, you'll like Downieville. (Although big descents, expect some climbing during the rides.)

Use Yuba Expeditions for shuttling: http://www.yubaexpeditions.com/
Try the Packer Saddle trails, route for the Downieville Downhill Race - lots of fun.
Many of the rides spit you out back in to town where your cold beverages await!

Santa Cruz has some good DH/ FR trails, DJs at the Post Office/ Polo Grounds, pump track [HTML_REMOVED] plenty of AM/ XC riding.
