I do mtb specific training for a few dudes, I have room for more clients still (I am on the shore). It helps being pushed by a trainer once in awhile. I progress riding the most when someone faster is behind me, watching me. I push so hard to keep ahead.. Same thing as working out with someone who can push you past your comfort zone.
My own regime changes all the time, but generally this is what I've been up too lately.
1.5 - 3 hrs hike with dogs 5x a week (my day job right now) I push hard and go pretty steep or jog/run on easier trails when I can. Don't always have the fastest dogs haha. Take it easy when I am tired.
I am trying to sell my dh bike right now, but im still getting out about two days a week, either pushing/riding up fromme or a seymour shuttle. I am pretty much focusing on improving everything.. Trusting my tires- cornering the most, wet and muddy roots, looking ahead further, keeping momentum in tight spots.. problem is my eyes and looking ahead/ keeping focus..I need my eyes tested, right now I can bairly see my comp screen..so blurry. So that will help my riding soo much!
I stretch A LOT. This is SO importaint! Yoga too.
Everyday I either roll out on a foam roller, self massage or get the bf to massage me. Removes scar tissue and lactic acid build up. You would be surprised at the difference these simple things make.
I do lots of plyo (power + cardio), work on the TRX for stabilizer muscles and core (great for better shoulder stability). Working on sprinting endurance right now. I make sure to train min 3x a week.. I always take one day completely off. Come for a sesh and I will show you lots!!!
I eat really clean. I am allergic to wheat and dairy.. I never eat out, If I do its sushi. Local or organic as much as possible, beans, quinoa, fruit, veg, eggs.. I make everything from scratch.. even our ketchup, guac, soups. I make 'bad' food in a healthy way once in a while so we get our greasy fix! Smoothies, oatmeal, peanut butter protein balls.. to name a few things! I stay away from everything processed/altered/modified. I try to only drink water (spring from headwaters) tea and the odd coffee (once a week usually) I supplement with fish oils, mag/cal, bee pollen, ginseng tea, hemp or soy protein (plain) to name a few. Everyones needs are different.. depends on gaps in your diet. I keep alcohol on the DL, weekends usually but lately I have been more seriously training it has only been very special occasions. I make the 'sober driver' excuse and dance like im drunk anyways!
