Yeah - Cheryl at Bike cafe sent me a link to the hard to find website.
Just got to pick which divey motel to stay in on the strip. The one we stayed in last year was rubbish.
Anyone got anything to say about the Lamplighter motel?

i stayed in one with a yellow and black logo… it was ok.
rider's motor inn it was called. it was definitely nicer than the travelodge I stayed in when I was in courtenay for the mt. wash race.
pretty ghetto exterior, but rooms were clean, and you could take a shower and not set the fire alarm off with steam.
This might help a bit.

is what it has said on their sign for the last 3 years
there are places to camp, you just need to know where to go
Judging by our shitty late winter enjoy your snow camping!

Sounds good to me.
What was wrong with the place we stayed in last year? It had so much character; burn marks in the carpet, 60s styling, footprints on the ceiling, most of the appliances worked, and we found a free stuffed Panda Bear in the "pull-out" (Kamloops' favourite form of contraception) couch.
Biking: As addictive as cocaine, twice as expensive!

the thrift lodge was really cool. He let you take in your bike and they have suite rooms with a stove and sink and fridge for cooking your own meals.
I Warn You Though. ASK ABOUT EVERYTHING. Make sure you cover all your bases. The guy is really cool but gets grumpy when you assume things like can I bring in my bike. you can if you ask. He may even lend you a hose to wash it off after practice. Just ASK and be really polite and apologetic if you mess up.
I give it a 9 out of 10 for a riding weekend place.
clean, Spacious, Accommodating, and really grumpy old guy in a kind of endearing way. It loses a point because it'll run you about 120 for two nights.
Oh and it is a three minute drive to the race course.
Beow Beow….. be be boew boew. boh boh. beow beow…… repeat:rave:
Lamplighter Motel - 2 bed room $65 per night. $32.50 PPn.
I would pay more than $30 not to have to camp at a bike race.
