We were going to change the dates to host the canada cup/bc cup in august that calgary backed out on, but we did not have enough time to line up a major sponsor for the canada cup. I will talk to the mtn ops director today, but I think the bc cup will still be in june.
Hopefully that changes from Aug back to June cause that's the same weekend as Crankworx, I don't think Intrawest would want two events on opposite sides of the province, trying to draw the same crowd, don't make sence, most will attend Crankworx I think.

I am not sure about that, the racers competing for the bc cup series would still attend Pano, but I agree two events on the opposite sides of the province is not great. I havn't had a chance to talk with the mtn ops director but I'll update you when I do.
I don't know dude, travelling 10 hrs from Van to Pano or 2hr to Whis, with that big population, missing one race ain't gonna hurt.

Any response yet from the powers that be at Pano?

From what I understand, Panorama has the BC Cup as usual June 25-26. The August date was supposed to be a Canada Cup but that's up in the air now as to who's doing it.

I had a meeting with the mtn ops director and the race will be june 24-25. We cannot host the ccup because we did not have enough time to line up a major sponsor before committing to the race. Our general manager gave us an amount of $ we could spend, but it was not enough. We are currently working on securing a sponsor for next year and have arranged for a full time events co-ordinator to ensure we will have $ for next year.
We are committing alot of $ to the trails this year with 5 full time trail builders, compared to 1 part time builder last year. The new stuff that is planned will bring us up a few notches(new bike park with wall ride, rails, box and new dj's, new trails including a jump trail, stunt trail, and a top secret trail which will be super gnarly. There has been discussion about guided shuttles to the summit.(anyone interested in a 4000' descent?)
We should have alot of new stuff for the opening weekend June 24-25.
i have also been told there will be great packages for rooms/lift passes so before you decide to stay in town or camp in the p-lot call and ask what deals they have.
D.
woooohoooo…i will be there for the June weekend race. I would be all over the 4000' descent like a fat kid on a smartie.

ah yes the club intrawest sales pitch… i guess there will be a party in the Tayton building for the race. make sure you request a mountain side room and you'll be able to watch 4x from your balcony.
