For some reason I never received any email notifications there was activity on this thread.

Anyhow… Platinum times have been a hot topic of discussion among the three amigos (aka the NIMBY organizers) at our beer drinking sessions (aka NIMBY race planning meetings).

To that end, I appreciate @taprider's math! We were also thinking along those lines of adding 7 minutes, but getting a little bit more generous and simple with the time (2:55 men / 3:20 women). Then we decided to get even more generous and come up with a more simple time, a number that is still very hard, yet attainable for folks who have other things to do besides just ride but who still put in the work, have the skill and the luck on race day. So….

We're going to go with 3:00 men / 3:30 women. This will be officially announced in our next eblast/blog post. However, I guess I just announced it! Ah well, those who attend the NSMB forum have always been privileged with insider info early in the game so at least that tradition will live on :-)

Challenge accepted!

My last (and only time) was 3:30 without Fifty [HTML_REMOVED] Econo Dave. So now I just need to get faster and shave about 45 mins off my time (accounting for the longer course).

from Nimby site today:
"NIMBY Fifty Platinum. New times announced: Under 2:55 Men / Under 3:25 Women. 2014 Platinum finishers list is now online based on the new times. 10 minutes was added to account for a slightly longer course, and possibly because we are getting a little nicer as we age. Hmm 3:00 was going to be a stretch goal, 2:55 is going to be too much :(

pre-rode the course this morning, mostly good shape, although pretty dry and loose! wind storm last night has knocked a lot of tree debris down, pine boughs and cones all over the trail. There's a couple of small trees down at the end of sphincter, before you turn to climb up towards slingshot, and one bigger one on smell the glove right past grumpy grouse. It was starting to rain a bit when I wrapped up and was heading out of town, some precip would be nice!

Did the rain goddess sprinkle any showers on the course this week?

Saw that in the forecast. Looks like it'll be nice and warm on Saturday. I can almost feel the cramps already…
