I did 3.50 last year on a 34lb 6" bike. Got hung up on Happy and Nimby lots because of people walking/falling/being pricks.
Goal this year is, again, sub 3hrs but on my hardtail

WOW! You guys want to shave off lots of time! I did 3:30 and would love around 3:15 next year, I'd be more than happy with that. Sub 3hrs is fast.
i'd like to get in around 3:30 this year but will have to change my overall training routine drastically. every time i've done this event i've had crippling leg cramps at various points throughout the race and i think a big part of that is my leg training in the gym which results in not getting in enough longer duration rides.
not squatting heavy for 3 or 4 months is going to be weird.
We don't know what our limits are, so to start something with the idea of being limited actually ends up limiting us.

I was 3:05 last year and would like to get about 10min faster. Too bad a Tim Horton's just opened close to the office… :(
Leg cramps = lactate threshold.
The timing of the Nimby is indeed good motivation for the training program I'm just starting. On-site camping would be killer!
cramps can be caused by a lot of things, not just lactate threshold.
besides, i doubt it's my lactate threshold as i do a lot of hiit training.
it's typically once i'm past the 2hr point that it becomes an issue and it only happens if i spin out and have to put a foot down or step off the bike. as long as i'm spinning it's fine. everything seems to point to a lack of endurance training.

2:56 last year but I'll be on a wagon wheeler this year so I'll probably win.

I will thoroughly enjoy watching you poor fuckers suffer!
Have that IV ready Clark!
No seriously, if you could have an IV available that would be great…;)

Third time lucky?
I was pretty close to needing some of Clark's IV drip last year. I didn't feel toasted on the bike but shortly after finishing I was close to slurring my words. Needed lots of water and a wee nap in some shade to come back around.
I've got an entry for my photo services from last year, well two but I digress…..now to suffer and race or sell them both off….still not convinced this is a race I need to suffer through! hahaha

You gotta sprint at the start then relax on the climb! ugh…

You better work on shaving one hour off that time then…

We are looking at options for on-site camping. Stay tuned - nothing confirmed or official yet, but it's in the works.
that would be awesome

I couldn't find a cost on the website. What were the reg fees last year?
I'm hugely out of shape right now but this might be something to work towards.
Being cheap is OK. Being a clueless sanctimonious condescending douchebag is just Vlad's MO.
