It's true the monk is perfect. Maybe a longer stem and a bit more seat extension, but I agree. Pretty much perfect.

I last raced the Nimby in 2011 on Cam's old Trek Remedy. Would definitely go with a bike under 120mm of travel if I was to go again… which I am tempted to. Only if we're staying the night.

I will certainly be doing it again.

Signing up is great motivation for early season training.

This is my thought. I set the bar super low last year so improvement should be straightforward. Will I stick with my one-bike-for-all philosophy and ride my XC Scratch or soften up and find something smaller and lighter?

Cheers Ben

I did 3:30 last year. Didn't pre-rode the course. My goal for this year is to break the 3hr mark.

Need to start closer to the front in order to not get as hung up in the crowd on Nimby. Also need to put some better fuel in the tank to not bonk on that Sphincter/Econoline/No Err section.

We are looking at options for on-site camping. Stay tuned - nothing confirmed or official yet, but it's in the works.

This is also my goal for this year, sub 3hours.

I've decided that my 1x10 set-up last year was great in theory, but when my legs cramped at the top of Overnight, I now realize that moar gears = better energy savings for the 2nd half of the course, which is where things really slow down and get painful.

I had gears and I still slowed to a crawl out on that back stuff.
