74 masters men! http://www.crankworx.com/whistler/downloads/open-enduro/Whistler_Enduro_Start_Order.pdf

73 now. Rider 559 is out. My weekend ruined, called away for work (just now actually).

Woah the enduro goes right by my house on transition 4, I'd offer my garage for a pit stop if I wasn't working

working my way through this a load of dishes at a time

i love the part about how some riders are whining that the whistler course is not an enduro course… while others are calling it the greatest enduro course, evar!

sounds like Barel was caught cheating and while the rules call for a DQ for shuttling he was given a 5 min time penalty……

If that's true then it's baffling. How did he think that was ok? Even if allowed, that's supremely lame.

WTF!?

i'm thinking i need to reconsider my opinion of this guy. he goes on and on about the spirit of enduro (see: last offtrack podcast) and then he goes and practices the hell out of punta ala, and now this?

Not sure what would have been said at the athlete's meeting, but the rule as written in the race book could be ambiguous in regards to whether it applies to training.

IMO, the rest of the paragraph seems specifically related to the race (not training). There's a seperate paragraph about training, with no mention about shuttling.

If this was clarified during athletes meeting (shuttling rule applies to training as well) then the correct penalty should have been DQ as stated. Mind you, isn't a 5 min penalty in this race pretty much the equivalent of a DQ for someone as competitive as Fabien Barel?

Not if he has a clean race and some of the other top guys get mechanicals

OK, maybe not equivalent to DQ (there are still points for low rankings as opposed to DQ), but looking at the other races, adding 5 min to Fabien's time would significantly affect his result:

race #1: 1st to 127th
race #2: 54th to 114th
race #3: 15th to 100th
race #4: 3rd to 67th

More info in here.

He skipped the racer meeting. The rule was clarified at the meeting.

Fuck shuttling in Enduro. Moseley has the best attitude. Poor old Fab wants to beat Jerome pretty bad eh?
