you fly pretty good for a lazy mexican, unfortunately this was about 3 shots before my camera decided to take a siesta and things weren't going too good

Was your camera gear OK after drying off?

Here's my 2c, or two photos, from the race. Have a few more but the darkness and weather were really out to get me, so not sure whether they'll work. Both are big challenges for me as I (a) can't use flashes - have to light the whole scene evenly, and (b) have to shoot UP as well - rain makes this somewhat more difficult.

Anyways, happy with these two from earlier in the day:

yes, luckily everything is working fine after a day of drying out. It was a pretty scary 24 hours waiting to see though. I'll be taking some better precautions next time I'm faced with the possibility of rain.

John, your panoramic shots are stunning!

Thanks for the comments, just disappointed I wasn't able to get more during the race because of the weather. Might be able to salvage but going to take some work.

I've got one of these:

that works well when trying to shoot in the rain, but tends to fog up a fair bit, so I leave the bottom zipper open for air flow and that helps a bit. There's also a version for tele lenses I think.

I got a few sweet shots that day, some of my best race shots in fact. Sales are very slow though

I had a look at that, but I mainly shoot biking with flashes and pocket wizards and I don't think it would fit. Optech makes a cheap plastic cover that has room for a flash/pw, I think they're something like $10 for a pair. It might be a good thing to keep in the bag. I just use ziplock baggies over the flashes.
