Thanks for the update - always good to hear someone's home safe!

Agreed, glad to hear he's ok. Props to the others that helped him get out.

Any word on the results being posted? I had to hit the road and didn't get my time… I had a great race and am curious if it panned out into a good time.

Hammerfest is always fun, thanks to the volunteers. I love that course, it's so much fun to pin it there.

The adult beginner that crashed earlier was in worse shape initially; he was face down, unconscous making gurgling noises for about a minute before he came to. He's the guy I am worried about.

He was moving by his own power and was taken to the hospital by a friend.

unconscious and gurgling usually means blocked airway and fix that by tilting the head back (put your chin to your chest and breath in, same sound?). Awesome to hear that both of them are okay, reading on pinkbike that the first guy has broken bones in his hand and dislocated finger

Yeah, but he shouldn't have been. When he came to he started thrashing around and judging by what he was trying to say he still thought he was on his bike. He was really lucky to get away with a broken hand and dislocated finger. You are right about the leatt brace- the way his head hit the tree he is a prime candidate for a compression fracture and/or subdural hematoma.

It's hard sometimes to have the person just sit down and stop moving so they can be assessed.

Oh absolutely- by the time first aid was able to get there he was already up. My wife and I were trying to get him to hold still and stay down but he was completely out of it and fighting us trying to get up.

I'm hoping to get out and gopro the course, but it's pretty mellow trails as we're happy to bring beginners and experts, solo or in teams of 2 or 4.

It's not sold out, a lot of fun, and if you're interested in accommodation too, check out the Riding Fool Hostel, about a block from the venue.

The course is fun and the park where the start/lap/finish is a great venue. Right down the street from the bike shop and coffee shop. I had a great time last year and am sorry I'm going to miss it this time around.
