Anyone have any recommendations?

Did the Kaslo Sufferfest 100 km mountain bike race last year and thought it was great. The 2014 course looks even better (http://www.kaslosufferfest.com/).

Not really interested in any multiple lap endurance races.

presently looking at the:

And Leadville mtb race (lottery entry).

Wishing there was something else in BC or closer. Is there anything?
Not interested in the BC enduros, or sea to sky classics (already have those on my calendar).

I'm considering the Kaslo 100 this year. I usually spend a week in New Denver around that time so the timing is good.

You looking at the true races or those more like a adventure?

For this thread - races instead of adventures.
My tendency is to use local races early in the season to get myself focused and fit, Mid season is about adventures (and my list for those is endless) - and end of season is one last hurrah with a 100 km mtb race - after that I am happy to just ride locally in Squamish - or build trails.

i have an idea for a 2015 WORCA event that's along this vein. it won't be 100km, but it'll be similar in length (time) to the kaslo event, and far more technically challenging. not sure how much appeal there is for something like this though.

You could try the capital forest epic in Olympia.

You can do either 80km or 160km. The 160 is two laps, but it is closer to Van than Kaslo.

The Stottlemeyer 50km / 100km in the same series is a good early season race too. It's 25km laps, but the course is flowy and fast. I enjoyed both laps of the 50km last year, and I hate doing laps of anything.

Sign me up as well Clark.
Lets chat one day.

Here are a couple of races that fit the bill and are not too far. Word of mouth tells me the trails would be superb.

Cascade Cream Puff 100 km or 100 mile [Oakridge, OR]
High Cascades 100 [Bend, OR]
Fat 55 [Oakridge, OR] (not long but it's oakridge!)

My friend did this one and said it was amazing!!!!

Linky

I did the Fernie Enduro and it was 40km and had killer DH sections

is going big on a bike the only way to get you stoked on the sport? what happened to riding with your bros, travelling, and riding unique places, to get people stoked on riding?

fines are useless. there needs to be more punches to the throat.

I'd likely rather owe money to the Mafia than participate in an event like that!

Im sure come registration I'll think otherwise though. Will need an extra cog regardless.

Why slag free swag?

ummm, as your doctor i recommend against riding with a scaphoid fracture.

Rather that going for mileage or number-of-ride goals this year, I'm going to set elevation gain goals instead. Getting back on the program as soon as this man-cold subsides…
