Disagree. Bikes are made for fun. By your point of view, why the hell should I ride bikes on dirt when it's better to use motos?

cause motos are heinously expensive, loud, overly dangerous, heavy, not very practical in the city if they aren't street legal, and not necessarily better on dirt than mtb. Maybe in an open pin, but through trees and on stunts probably not.

Seriously…..what I'm saying is your statement goes against natural creativity. If it weren't for that, we wouldn't have slopestyle, DJing, maybe even mtbs.

One day you'll put down your dirt jumper, nike 6.0s and new era hat and realize that you just want to ride a bike, not throw down sick moves in front of your friends and make movies with some random rap flavor of the week playing in the background.

get your old man on with someone else, your like 2 years older than me and i've probably been riding just as long as you.

Im pretty sure that this guy didnt have no foots cans, suicide no handers and you in mind at the time.

but hey, the sport evolved, and now there are bikes that are meant to do that on. You fall under the same category as this guy, you still call yourself a 'mountain biker', so did this guy. If you do ANY research into the scene youll find that there are as many different types of 'mountain bikes' as 'fixed gear bikes' all with different purposes, some velodrome, some tricks, some commuter, flat bar cruisers etc etc.

Fixed gear riding has been around before any other type of bike. And as you can see by the video i posted earlier in the thread, being tricked as well.

You may not think that these 'fancy new fixie bikes' arent meant for tricks, but by any sense of time, your mountain bike is less meant for tricks than a fixed gear bike.

Bikes are bikes, regardless of this 'worst position' you speak of. Im pretty sure if your on two wheels and killing it on dirt jumps or on a fixed gear bike your in a good position. Its different skills and either way its alot of fun. Jump on a fixie one day and give it a fair go.

wow ok we get it.. you like to trick your road-bike cruiser fixie whatever. Do what you want.. maybe instead of taking cheap shots at mtbers who post quality material adding a lot to a site like NSMB, you should open a forum about how sick your last skid was on your fixie

All im saying its about fun on bikes in general. Not THE bike not the rider, about bikes.
I still ride mountain bikes, and i love it.

im not sure how old you are wink, but if that is the case you should change your tone to something thats along the same lines as a little more open minded 21 year old?

I love the video and an awesome post on winks part. Good find! BUT the reason he posted it wasnt in good spirits. It was for wink to be the leader of the anti fixie thread and that wasnt cool. post all the cool other bike videos u want, but dont expect to get all the mtn bikers to be like "YA thats sooo ghey, screw off fixie hippies! Har har"

and my last skid, was fuckin epic, lol

i just don't get the whole learning to do tricks on something that clearly isn't meant for tricks..
If you want to ride street and do tricks, get a bmx. If you want to ride real fast and be a courier, get a fixie.

If all the guy wants to do is gaps, rails, wallrides etc. then it does make sense that he should be on a BMX. The fact that he's riding a fixie should tell you that riding real fast, doing wheelies, bar spins, etc. are more his style.

So what do you expect him to do when he's out riding and he sees a set of stairs that he wants to 180? Pull his BMX out of his pocket? He'll probably just try it on the ride that he's got with him and it just kinda evolves from there.

That's my explanation for someone trying tricks on something that isn't necessarily meant for tricks.

Except for ledge tricks on a fixie. Screw that nonsense.

from that video, i didn't see any difference in style or speed than the average bmxer. I get the whole he likes to PIN around town and just trick whatevers in his path or sesh spots at high speeds but in this case he doesn't pin. His style of riding is NO different than the average street rider except that he's on a road bike. Thats why i don't see a point to this bro tricking a fixie. If your going to be "creative" and ride a road bike to do tricks then actually get "creative". Hes doing nothing special, nothing unique.. just tricks on a road bike.

It looked to me like he is probably running a lower gear ratio than the average bmxer, so that plus the fact he can't coast probably means he rides around town significantly slower than the average bmxer.
