What lenses do you use to photograph weddings?
Personally I think I might have to rent a 70-200mm f/2.8 IS.
Is there any other lenses you recommend?

70-200mm seems a bit overkill unless your shooting in a gigantic cathedral.
85mm f 1.8 or a 50mm … Both good indoor lenses. Make sure you're prepared!! The people are only going to have one wedding. Don't fuck it up for them. Scout the location! Read weather reports! and when you think you're ready. Go over it again and prepare some more!!

Defiantly, It's a greek wedding as its my cousins, and its at my church (arbutus one). I've been going in there and checking out what light i have to work with, so I might have to rent a couple of IS lenses too. I also have 2 months to prepare :p
At least i have 1 lens ready (50mm f/1.8) :D
ur gunna wanna a 70-200 2.8 I think. Any L lens thats sharp as hell and can allow as much light in as possible. Give Derek Pearson a shout, that guuy kills the wedding photography scene. Hes on nsmb I beleive his user name is BAH. Or just check his site derekpearson.com, his stuff is absolutly unbelievable

I think something like 24-105 would be more suitable, because I know for a fact you'll be taking pictures from closer range, and if you have to back up and whatnot, you'll miss that particular moment. With this lens you'll obviously need a flash( NOT the on-board flash either).
PS. The 50 1.8 won't focus fast enough for low-light.
The last wedding I shot was in a dark venue (they're all in dark venues, lets not kid ourselves) and I used 3 lenses: 16-35 f2.8, 50mm f1.4 and a 300mm f2.8. You want really fast lenses. Derek has a lot of great stuff and he combats the darkness by using hella lighting setup.

yah, about 7 gazillion flashes and pocketwizards. he transforms the wedding location into a floodlit stadium

just make as many preparations as possible. theres a reason wedding photographers/videographers get paid what they do…you can't fuck up. with that said having a few lenses to change around is not a bad idea.
