In the past I have used Window Movie Maker, cause its free, easy to use and on my computer.

I recently just bought the Canon t2i. It is mainly for taking pictures of my toddler but with its 1080p HD video capability, I want to make some better movies. But the video is recorded in Quick Time video file.

I like Windows Movie Maker cause its super simple, but it doesn't recognize Quick Time, MVI or MPEG-4. Is there other free software out there that will handle every file type from numberous devices? MVI, MPEG-4, Quick Time Video [HTML_REMOVED] Window Video Files?

I believe Windows Live Movie Maker can read .mov…

As far as free software goes I can't help you. As far as illegal software goes…….well

There always the option to transcode all your native files to .avi or .wmv.
But .mov and .avi could can cause problems.
You can try out mpeg streamclip

You could consider a free program to convert the file to something you can use.

Ya you can use the squared5 thing to make the files into .avi's or .mov's and then edit those.

As someone who fucking sucks, I've had good times with Sony Vegas. It natively does that ACVCDH shit that makes Adobe Premier choke, and seems to run a bit smoother. Also, there aren't so many options as Premier so it makes producing more professional looking stuff a bit easier.

It's free for the first 30 days, then you have to buy it for $99 or something, or steal it if that's what gets you off.

One of these is not like the others.

I have 8 and 9 installed. Going to see which handles AVCHD better. I still think converting is going to be my best option. Computer is an athlon x2 4400+ with 2 gigs ram, so not a huge powerhouse.

I like powerdirector…used a few different pieces of software and powerdirector has been the easiest so far.

I don't know the product at all, but it may be just a file extension issue. Try renaming it to .m2ts or just .ts and give it a shot. I know I had one video app where it keyed in on file extension and not the actual file type.

I already tried that. Luckily I have a Wondershare product that converts fine.
