I made a Unicorn-Cam mount for my helmet and tested it out at The Woodlot today.

I'm not sure about the angle or perspective and I'm looking for constructive criticism.

Fire away people.

sweet angle.

maybe extend the pole a bit and aim the camera down a little as well so you can see more of what your body and bike are doing.

It would be pretty sweet if you could mount an 8 or 10 foot extension so we could get a full cable cam effect for the whole trail.

Kind of neat but it ends up being a video of your head. for variety perhaps try the same thing with a pivot (it'd need to be a bearing plate to fix the up and down attitude) a longer boom and a counterbalance. It can spin right around your head with a little tilt of the helmet. Saw a video with this sort of setup and it was way more interesting to watch.

Seemed awkward to watch for me (staring at your face for 3 minutes) gotta be longer to show more, but that will suck to crash with

I liked it when you were kinda brushing past branches as stuff. might work a bit better with a wider angle lens?

wider angle lenses work much better, and you don't have to have the camera sticking out as far then. Counterbalancing can be tricky if it gets too far out, as well as keeping your head up and helmet from slipping around. Not to mention the neck cranking potential. I think the thing that makes the unicorn view so unique is when you can see the whole body swinging back and forth like a puppet.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone.

I'll tweak it and post up the results. I am going to go with a wider angle and adjust the angle of the camera slightly.

I like where you're going with this Dean, this is one of my favorite vids not too much staring at some dudes face but enough to show what's going on.
