I've got the second one and it isn't bad. The one thing I don't like is that it punctures easily. It is amazingly versatile and the compact shape is great, however I never saw it as much better than a simple plastic diffuser on the flash.

I have also noticed that it darkens things up a bit more. As I have a 3.5 this is bad, definitely has caused problems. Once you get used to it though you compensate.

I haven't used the Gary Fong Strobe thing, but everything I hear is amazing. It is large and a bit unweildy looking, but the results seem to speak for themselves. I would consider it if you plan on doing event photography in mixed and variable lighting.

Wicked. I think ill go for it :D

Seriously, Do you really need like a million different lenses? Just go out shoot, experiment and most importantly have fun…After all, not everyone can afford that new 2.34905+L lens.

2.8 does not freaking matter

bump up your iso a stop and quit whining.

2.8 matters alot. allows for a smaller depth of field, low light shooting without bumping up the ISO - cause i hate noisy pictures. after using 2.8 lenses, thats the only lenses i will allow myself to buy, except for my nikon 18-70 3.5-4.6, which is an awsome lens.

.243 that is a funny remark comming from a good photographer. 2.8 does alot more for u then just low light, dop, bokah. u should know all this. u can always push your f stop higher. but why have limits if u don't have too. 2.8 or lower all the way. I'm not speaking out of my ass eather this is through experance, or using other lenses.

far enough, but 17-40 mmm not that great of a lense., it has great contrast and grear colour. Just seems that canon wide angles well they are not that great. that is why well a 24-70 2.8L and a 1.3x body or fullframe is prob the ebst choice. but that is well alot of money for most and off topic. but ya .243 agree L glass for sure. sigma has a couple ex lenses that are great. my 70-2002.8 will match or beat any canon 70-200. but it can be hit and miss, which is kinda shitty since these lenses cost so much cash.
