Last week-end (the long week-end) I went for a quick trip to Lake Lovely Water in the Tantalus Mountain range. Started off with 1.5 km of bushwacking through Black bear territory, followed by a 350 meter long steel cable crossing of the Squamish River.

Stopped at a few places to enjoy the views and other things along the trail.

First glimpse at Black Tusk.

After 4-5 hours of hiking (after crossing the river) I finally arrived at my destination. There's a nice little suspension bridge to cross the creek just before the Tantalus Hut.

One of the girls skinny dipping into the lake after a long day of hiking.

Before I left in the morning, one of the campers went fishing for some trout :)

I was supposed to stay till Monday but I had to cut it short and come back on Sunday. I went through my food supplies a little faster then expected… It was an excellent hike though! I would highly recommend taking the taxi across the river though. That cable crossing is super sketchy and scary lol!!

didnt know nsmb was only for pros

its not, its only for dicks.

Looks like a really nice hike James. No better pictures of the swimmer? ;)

Also, some people like skinnies. What better way to teach rear-wheel awareness - of which there is precious little around here? Besides, give it 5 years, and theyll be retro-chic again.

I had my climbing harness, one daisy chain set pretty short for the top cable and a 5-6 foot sling setup loose to cross over the cones and ball on the cables. All on aluminum biners (as long as they are not weight loaded they don't wear out) I walked on the lower cable holding onto the top one. Pretty sketchy but it works.

So I take it that the cable car is a water survey car, locked up and not usable?

That is usually the case.

Just about every rope/sling/pulley/carabiner combination imaginable has been used to get across those cables.

Some friends and I tried to use the water taxi guy many years ago on our way out from the lake (we heli'd up there), but he never showed up at the designated time and place. Luckily a First Nations guy who was out in his small boat was willing to ferry us across for $10 each, which included a cold beer once we got to the other side!
