There's no shuttling. The access roads are closed to vehicles but they're a pretty easy grade for the most part. I only pushed for about 100m on the main uptrack and I was riding a big bike with a totally sketched out crankset. Its really only about a 20min-30min ride to the top anyway.
There are also longer, but less steep ways of getting to the top as well. Don't go expecting to ride chainless. This isn't downhill riding like we have on the shore. Its more of a super fast, smooth, big ring rip when heading back downhill.
Jeremy at the bike rental place can hook you up with a cheap map (proceeds go to trail maintenance). I've heard that he's going to resurrect the festival and XC race that used to take place there every year.
I learned the hard way to towel off my bike before the dog. I'd rather have a slightly oily dog than a hairy bike.
Beautiful west coast, ocean inspired pottery.
