NOTE

Both mounted Helmet Cam. Rider on same trail at same time. Angry Midget in Squamish.

Compressed to 640 x 480 25 fps. H264 codec for QT (did this as its an optimized size for sharing videos without caring overmuch for quality via Vimeo or Youtube)

Will try next compressed to 1080p and 36fps for Vimeo HD and Youtube HQ type filesharing.

Looks like the Go Pro is more stable, the Contour seemed shaky.

The GoPro is 170 fisheye. The VHoldr Contour was 135.

Gotta get to sleep. Will put up a longer video tomorrow. Rendered in higher quality the Contour's quality is much better but query whether that matters if you're going to just upload your video to sites for sharing. Who really wants to buy a bigger box with more graphic chips just to render more video? I sure don't.

Anyhow will reserve judgment till get a bit more time with this thing

Hey Lee, were did you get your VHoldr?

At first glance I thought the GoPro video looked a little washed out compared to the VHoldR HD. Then again, compressing the video down to 640x480 doesn't allow the 1080 pixel capabilities to shine does it?

It'll be interesting to see the HD clip on vimeo. But you shouldn't nessesary need a faster machine. Just more time to convert if its even needed?

Vimeo won't accept raw VholderHD clips? But even then I guess you wanna edit to make nicer transitions, etc…

I'm having no fun editing clips from my new VIO 1.5. learning to video edit is no easy task!

I'll put together a HD video for comparison that's a bit longer and host it on vholdr.com. Correction: Vholdr is 720p HD.

Good of you to compare. It will be interesting to see a longer clip to compare. The VholdR looks great.

Vholdr Contour HD is the first video segment worn on the helmet. GoPro Hero Wide is second segment worn on the chest mount.

Compressed to HD 720p. 1280x 780 30 fps. H264 codec - Mov file output

I accidentally disabled sound but the Vholdr's mic is better although there's lots of wind noise. This time a longer segment and rendered to HD.

So…I like the video quality of the Vholdr better…but it seems like the the GoPro dealt with the light transitions better…the Vholdr seems a bit dark in the shady sections.

The shakiness of the Vholdr is what I don't like…I think thats just the mounting system that they use though…would be interesting to see a different mounting system.

The mounting system right now is on Cam's helmet. When I get a dedicated test unit I'll work on a mount system that's different -- hopefully better

in your opinion Lee, is it the mount that allows the camera to shake like that, or is it the camera itself?
