I am looking for people's opinion on this one. I've been working on editing some pictures in black and white for a while now. I have this one shot here i finished tonight and I quite like it.

I tried to give a bit of a film look. I edited the levels, the shadows, the highlights and some sharpening too. A bit of dodging here and there and…..

I'd like to know what you guys think of it though.
Thanks!

I think there is something strange looking about the tones. The walls and dirt seem to be almost monochromatic. It might be because you pushed the levels really far from what they originally were?

That probably would be a sick shot in colour, but it lacks the tonal depth as is.

To me it looks over sharpened. Other than that I like it, maybe post up the original as well for us to see.

the back wall there looks a bit odd to me compared to the rest of the pciture. and josimar, you are right it would look better in colour i think too.

I don't like that there are no straight lines in the picture. It looks weird to me.

Do you mean horizontal and vertical?

Im no expert, but it seems like the subject is just a tad to close to the right of the frame. Love the B n' W though. lets see the original

Yeah there are quite a few things not right with the processing. I'm trying new things and I think the noise reduction didn't help on this photo.

Thanks everyone!

This is how I edited it originally

I like the second one better, leading lines to facial expression.

looks good, but the background takes away from the pic so you dont notice the editing as much as you should

I like it James. The rider just looks like he is posing a little too much. I think some blur on the background might aid in putting the focus on the rider.

thanks!
I was shooting at 1/125 of second at F3.2 and following the riders so the background isn't as crisp on the full resolution.

I'll try a slower shutter speed next time and see how it turns out. I wouldn't want the background blurred out too much though.

Thanks for all the feedback again!
