Weight weenie-ism was pretty big this year and the kids seem to be riding mountain bikes like they were BMXs.

Yup.
40 pound DH bikes are too heavy.
35 pounds is good.
A Norco Team DH has been built up to near 33 pounds.
Banshees are now probably not what you would expect.

Yes, Norco has decided not to be outdone by some of Specialized's work on the Demo series.

i've been out for a year and i've missed so much.
werd on the new norco bikes, and basically all bikes now.
i'm not too big on the whole "left the frame outside and it melted in the sun" look.

teenage years are embarrassing to look back at for everyone to a degree, but i would think former emo kids would really feel the shame
