I'm trying to dl an xvid codec for my Mac. I'm running the cheapest MacBook.

I've got some videos that I want to watch. My brother put them on a SD Card via his PC. They are .avi files, and when I looked into the properties, I found they are xvid.

I have had success getting the DivX codec, but not Xvid. Any tips?

Will these Xvid episodes play in Quicktime, or must I get a seperate Xvid player, once I get it sorted?

Yes, yes, yes. VLC is the shit. Back when I had a Mac, it would play anything and everything. Same goes for PC.

I've got VLC now, thanks everyone.

I haven't tried it out yet, but will tomorrow when I attempt to watch the videos.

Same thing. If you install more than one codec they can interfere with each other. Check your codec files and if you have more than one divx/xvid (same thing) than delete one. I had the same issue on my mac. Do a search it's a common problem.
