Are they heading in that direction? Or is it just western rhetoric to create another boogie man as a distraction…Putin hopes just irresponsible rhetoric.

We are now at risk of nuclear annihilation more than at anytime during the cold war.

Some of Hillary's generals are just itching to try out tactical nukes.

I remember when the German government gave out the info that every citizen should stock up on water and cans of food - as if WW3, or a Russian invasion, is on the horizon. I still find it odd.

Concerning Putin's view on the candidates, I think he would really love to see Trump as a new president, simply because they could have a good time, given that their views are not that different from each other, I guess.

Other than that, I think it is classical rhetorics from Putin, almost Orwellian in redirecting the focus to the West, and away from the issues Russia has to face sooner or later.

Pretty hard to justify spending over 50% of all discretionary spending on the military without a boogieman.

Both Clinton and Trump are guilty of the same fear based politics. Clinton uses Putin, Trump uses ISIS and misleading crime statistics to stoke domestic fear. Only one of them wants to spend money on developing more nuclear weapons and thinks that the military needs more funding because they're 'depleted' though.

I know some Russians … they don't think much of Russia or its government. I guess that's why they live here.

It's pretty hard to ignore the sabre-rattling that's going on right now. I really hope that's all it is.

So what does cooperation with Russia look like? Do we just sit back while he re-establishes the Iron Curtain? It is a tense time in history right now with Russia and China trying to create their own spheres of influence, but my take is that Trump is a weak leader and they would both just ramp things up with him as POTUS.

IMO, this is why the race for replacing fossil fuels as our main energy source is so important. With oil off the table as a key geopolitical focus, Syria and the Middle east stop being so important and it takes away Russia and Saudi Arabia's money and influence. It takes away Canada's as well, so we need to hustle.
