I'm having a hard time with some of the negative views of these things and the restriction of access to info or the outright refusal of MSM to cover some of it or explore questions that go against the mainstream narrative. I get why they may not want to as it's potentially dangerous by adding fuel to the fire of the wingnut deniers. However, between the pro and con camps there is grounds to talk about these uncertainties and we should be doing it, not hiding or dismissing them. But maybe doing that qualifies as rESuRch™ according to Scnickelpuss and we wouldn't want to do that cause he might get upset or confused by the words on the screen.

I agree that it's still positive news, and there's no doubt so far that we're way ahead of the game with the vaccines and the protection they offer.
What worries me a bit though is that as viruses mutate they typically become less pathogenic, but with covid and delta that didn't seem to be the case. So if we have a virus that is becoming more pathogenic and vaccines that only have high efficacy for 4-6 months what does that spell for the future? For now we know that the vaccines are very effective at reducing the severity of covid and that it's still primarily a disease that affects the elderly and those with strong comorbidities, so the majority of the population is safe if we get vaxed (with maybe an annual booster) and continue to practice physical distancing and masking. I'll be honest though, that's not a future or "new normal" that appeals to me.

Nonetheless, fully vaccinated individuals with breakthrough infections have peak viral load similar to unvaccinated cases and can efficiently transmit infection in household settings, including to fully vaccinated contacts.
Importantly, there are far less vaccinated with breakthrough infections than unvaxed with infections. So not only are they infectious for a shorter time but less of them have infections. Passports are still one of the best ways to prevent spread.
