I wonder how many of these american leaders that are being diagnosed will actually die.

I am truly shocked that it's mostly republicans.... truly shocked. Look at how shocked I am.

Quick look at the 7 mask marathon Doc. Should we take into account the amount of different masks and their materiels next? Surgical masks are meant to keep saliva and other mucus out of the patients open surgery.

As someone who was recommended to see a COPD specialist, I can tell you there is a difference in masks (not trolling). And then there's mask sizing and care. We could go on and on and on.

We could, but we don't because we know they help a lot overall in controlling the spread, they are inexpensive, and they don't curtail any type of economic activity because you can do almost anything while wearing one. Win, win, win.

But you're missing the point. Unless I'm wrong, didnt the CDC recently say mask's werent effective and ergo, not necessary?

Basic logic says: people with a lung infection/condition have trouble breathing, masks prohibit if not limit proper breathing. Do you need to be a Dr to see an issue with that? And get this: everyone has been listening to their Dr's boss and boss' boss, aka Dr Henry since this started (and her Boss Dr Tam and her boss the WHO).

Sorry sir, I had no idea RAH was the only person you were asking. Public post on a public forum and all.

Nothing to get upset about.

It was directed at RAH because he seems to have some medical knowledge and would be the best person to ask without getting links and opinions. I also wasnt upset, just tired of your little dog like chirpiness so nice side step on the obvious points I left in the quote.

My GF is in training to become an HCA and wears certified, fitted N-95s. It's quite a process but is necessary even in regular flu season. Knowing that I don't have much confidence in my 50-packs of "medical grade" masks, nor the washable cloth ones. No way I'd be going out in public if I was symptomatic. As is I've kept to myself as much as possible, not to difficult as an introvert.

Thinking back, weren't we told not to wear masks early on (March?). If I recall they were recommended if you had symptoms and **had ** to break quarantine for supplies or an appointment. When the big American corporations (Wal-Mart, Costco) made them mandatory for customers the idea really seemed to catch on. I'm of the opinion that the media (inc. social media) really wound it up after that.

I think Canada's early response, BC in particular has been very successful. Distancing, hygiene, contact tracing.. brilliant stuff. It's too bad we will be living with Covid-19 until the whole world (Ahem.. America) catches up. It doesn't help that people my age keep gathering (why! fuck). I wouldn't be surprised if we see at least one more novel virus pandemic in my life time.

It’s not a side step if your points aren’t stated clearly or aren’t worth responding to.

Not that I know of, but Trump has politicized their message so who knows.  You could always go to their site and see for yourself.

Use of Masks to Help Slow the Spread of COVID-19

This was always obvious to me.  We know how viruses spread and the spray from our face as we breathe is where the viruses live.  Making less of a plume by using a mask will obviously slow it down.

The criteria are different for health care workers.  They need to protect themselves from the patients and whatever virus they may have.  The "medical grade" masks are mainly to stop the spray from your face from contaminating others.  Early on they were more concerned about getting the virus through touch, but they learned since then that it is mainly through the air, hence the masks.

So Halloween is just around the corner. With Covid surging what are the parents on here doing? My 13 year old girls are pretty bummed that it could be a bust. Are you letting the kids trick or treat? Are you handing out candy? I’m only just starting to think about it.

I work in the healthcare sector. People were asked not to wear masks, as there was a critical shortage of PPE. If you had told ppl to wear masks at the start of all of this, the panic hoarding (toilet paper anyone?) would have depleted all of the masks needed by front line workers. Also, everything was shut down. The amount of person to person interaction was significantly lower than it is now that we have been opening back up.

We're going to do it Easter style.

We're not handing out candy or going door to door, our little guy is going you dress up and hunt for the candy in the yard / house.

He's only 3 so it works for us, but your 13 year olds will probably less than impressed by that plan.

This is Fauci's reasoning back in March, but the Trumpsters spin it into Fauci was wrong and is therefore incompetent.
