Love the Conspiracy theories. Obviously China didn't create this... they go thru a lot of work putting safety catch nets in at the sweatshop complexes. So people don't die when they throw themselves to their death making iphones 14 hours a day. Would be bad for business.
No, they didnt create it, they just finished the Wuhan BSL4. Chinese spies shipped it from Canada's own CDC to Wuhan. There's also a sequence in the genome that is unlike any other coronavirus (apparently, says the net).
For conspiracy's regarding this: anyone hear about the Harvard Prof and two other Chinese arrested very recently? Harvard Prof was the one who created virus sized transistors that could carry a viral payload (or thats the close paraphrase).

Vitamin C is water soluable. Start a loading phase with Jamieson 1,000mg or 500mg if you're >170lb.
Also, if you have excess phlegm, get a nicotine patch if you've never smoked or pick up another pack (google cytokine n nicotine).

Seems, at least at the time of the writing, that average transmission rate (Ro) was 2.2, meaning for every person infected, it was transmitted to 2.2 people. This isnt TERRIBLE and was before measures were put in place to contain the virus - so its likely lower now. Im hearing that streets are empty in heavily impacted areas - all signs (that I have seen) is that China is taking this one very seriously.
Average incubation period is 5-12 days, with a mean of just over 7.
Read the article knowing that:
1) The last datapoint I saw from it was Jan 20th - amazing that this hit print in just over a week from last data collection.
2) Look at how fast they closed the Seafood market - incredible how quickly i) they realized that this was a new virus, and ii) isolated it to the seafood market. I think that this shows just how far China has come on this matter since SARS.

Not be to super contrarian but 38 people died yesterday. Cases have already exceeded the numbers of SARS cases during that outbreak. The shutdown that China has accomplished could probably only happen in China or NK - in other words, I highly doubt westerner's would self quarantine let alone listen unless some form of (criminal) detention was at hand. We could panic as per any movie of choice.
I do obviously agree, we will eventually know more (happy valentines?). But given the numbers that are released and known, I am not overly optimistic that anyones being honest about the "numbers".
I’d like to know what the updated Ro is - the confirmed rate is moving exponentially but I wonder what that second derivative is of late. There’s certainly a lag between measures put in place to slow/halt transmission and symptoms - so the confirmed rate today is probably the result of what was happening a week ago.
Scary but like the above news link says: unprecedented early action.
No one in Africa has this? Agree there’s probably under reporting in some countries but perhaps travel to and from China is mainly to other developed nations.

I think that's due to a combination of the incubation period, the time from the early "I don't feel so good" symptoms to the "oh shit I'm sick" symptoms and that time in between when people are contagious and don't realize it and spread it around. It's that time of denial where people are probably spreading this thing and because they may not look sick they're infecting others sick.

I'll stick with my 50/50 on that for now tbh. At the same time, Zerohedge was just twitter banned for "spreading misinfo" like I did and the other tweeter I linked did. I'm not saying thats a sign but it also fits under an interesting development.
