Whelp, the dude I responded to took the time to find a fact check rating that allowed him to credibly ignore the information that tungsten shared.
I used a very similar amount of time to determine that other sources covered the same topic so I read one. Then I read the rt one.
I learned something. Dude didn’t. As of yet absolutely no one has had any commentary about the substance of the article. Tungsten got to watch everyone argue about rt again.
To use your analogy, RT, Fox, Al Jezerra, CNN and MSMBC all make a couple dishes really well but there are some dangerous, disgusting entrees on their menu as well. Media literacy is knowing what to order.
In terms of the substance of the article I don't find it surprising and I think the actions are appropriate. In the end it doesn't really amount to much as it was just one guy being stupid. Was vaccine distribution negatively affected? Where delays caused that impacted people's health? Nope. So basically this is a non-news news item. It's a nothingburger.
Re the analogy, RT is a far more suspect site than the others, so there's not much point in even bothering to try and figure out what to order from their menu when there are far better places to eat. When someone uses sites of questionable quality on a regular basis that have been showed to be misleading you're only going to give their links so much attention. I generally like the gist of what tungsten says/believes in and observation tells me many of us here share similar concerns on many of the topics that come up. Unfortunately his choice of support often leaves a lot to be desired so when he posts a link from a known questionable source it shouldn't be surprising that it gets short shrift.
