Whelp, the dude I responded to took the time to find a fact check rating that allowed him to credibly ignore the information that tungsten shared.

I used a very similar amount of time to determine that other sources covered the same topic so I read one.  Then I read the rt one.

I learned something. Dude didn’t.   As of yet absolutely no one has had any commentary about the substance of the article. Tungsten got to watch everyone argue about rt again.

To use your analogy, RT, Fox, Al Jezerra, CNN and MSMBC all make a couple dishes really well but there are some dangerous, disgusting entrees on their menu as well. Media literacy is knowing what to order.

In terms of the substance of the article I don't find it surprising and I think the actions are appropriate. In the end it doesn't really amount to much as it was just one guy being stupid. Was vaccine distribution negatively affected? Where delays caused that impacted people's health? Nope. So basically this is a non-news news item. It's a nothingburger.

Re the analogy, RT is a far more suspect site than the others, so there's not much point in even bothering to try and figure out what to order from their menu when there are far better places to eat. When someone uses sites of questionable quality on a regular basis that have been showed to be misleading you're only going to give their links so much attention. I generally like the gist of what tungsten says/believes in and observation tells me many of us here share similar concerns on many of the topics that come up. Unfortunately his choice of support often leaves a lot to be desired so when he posts a link from a known questionable source it shouldn't be surprising that it gets short shrift.

Whoa! My right index finger is starting to twitch.....

Retired NYPD detective Pat Brosnan on Fox News: “Once covid starts to lift, these cowardly shooters will come out exactly in tandem with the number of vaccinations. You can be sure they probably got vaccinated.”

And at this rate there won't be any brave police officers to stop them.

In better news we got the weekend numbers and BC's keep dropping.  We are close to having a day with less than 200 cases.  At this rate we should be back below 100 cases a day within the next few weeks.

The last 33 weekend totals (since October 19 2020): 499->817->1120->1565->1959->2398->2077->2020->2146->1667->1312->1646->1475->1330->1344->1158->1236->1231->1428->1478->1462->1506->1785->2518->2966->3289->2960->2491->2174->1759->1360->974>708

Was There a Wuhan Lab Leak? An Inquiry Won't Dig Out the Truth. It Will Deepen the Deception

Our understanding of the origins of Covid has been narratively managed over the past 15 months and is still being narratively managed. We are being told only what suits powerful political, scientific and commercial interests.

No offense KenN, but this author makes a pretty weak case of supporting his headline A COVID-19 Lab Leak in Wuhan? As a Story, It Doesn’t Hold Up

He talks about racism and gives examples of the Chinese being blamed for a viral outbreak in San Fran, but we all know it originated in Wuhan.  He also spends a lot of time fighting the claim it was weaponized which only MAGA hat wearers believe and dismissed a potential lab leak because labs like this should be secure even though this type of thing has happened before in other labs.

I think at the end of the day most people just want some honest answers as to where this thing got started and how so we can avoid shutting down the globe again... and we know where it started.

LOL.  I have no idea how we got COVID, but I get a little defensive if people say looking at China for answers is racist.  It might have escaped the lab.  It also might be from bat stew.  I would just like to know and the search starts in Wuhan and with the Chinese government.

The funny thing is that he seems to have moved on from us and this Wuhan lab thing was one of the very few conspiracy theories that he floated (and we ridiculed... or at least I did) that might have a sliver of truth.

As Syncro likes to point out. Context matters.

The Wuhan leak theory under Trump was being rolled out as a complete distraction ploy from their botched response to the pandemic. it’s not clear what (if any) data or information was behind it and it was being rolled out as conclusive. As it stands now, it’s seems like it’s still inconclusive, but there is appetite to get better investigations/data behind it (if only to rule it out).

Also, there was the whole issue of “Boy who cries wolf” going on with anything team Trump was saying about Covid at that point.

The (Biden) White House, 18 scientists published by Science, the WHO director general and more have said that the investigation of the Wuhan leak theory has not been adequately investigated yet.

A zoonotic source is more likely, but a human source is also quite possible.  You're jumping the gun if you think that the source has been conclusively identified.
