Work Shifts

I've had an unexpected change in jobs and am wondering if any of you guys do shiftwork?

Whats your schedule and how do you like it? what would you change or rather have?

The 5 and 2 schedule that seems to be the standard totally blows IMO, for now I'm temporarily doing a 14 on and 7 off which the 14 days on, and with travel to the boat dock we launch out of it really works out to be 15 and 6. That seems to be the standard camp fare which is pretty much the same ratio as 5 and 2.

I'm trying to get in with either the Northern routes on bc ferries which I hear are 14 on 14 off, or I'm gunna see about coast guard things who have a bit more of everything at 28 days in and 28 days out, now we're talking that's a better ratio. I mean why should it be that you spend twice as much time at work than you do at home, what kinda shit is that right?

Ha Ha! Made you look.

So that  guy we know was seen driving a really nice new deisel truck,  things must be pretty happening up thar in that camp

I hear the food up thar is better than most people eat at home

They have a french chef whom I know  from the skiing/biking

Buddy used to do the gourmet restaurant thing in whistla  but he told us  (in a french accent )

" i can make 3 times as much money in camp than cooking at a gourmet restaurant"

Look into work on tug boats.   They often have good work schedules.

I work 2 wks on/off, which is the perfect balance for me.  28 on/off is ok too.  Did 265 days straight on a ship once... but don't want to spend more than half my time working anymore haha.  Shoot me a note on FB messenger if you have any questions about working on boats.  Whether it be ferries, the Guard, tugs, deck or engine I can probably help you out.

Most professionals and managers at the mines here in Nevada work 4-10's, M-Th or T-F.

Some are on 8/6 instead of 4-3.

My miners work 7/7, 12 hour shifts. Some of the other mines work 5/4 - 4/5, or a super 7 which I have never worked myself and don't really understand. Rumor has it many are moving to the 7/7 we've been doing for the last few years. The guys seem to like it. Many of them live in Idaho or Montana and travel down here for work.
