Beautiful animal. If you ask me our wolf population is a lot larger than people realize.

there is a small series of islands and islets just off of Victoria called the Chatham Islands. a lone male wolf has lived on them for about 7 years now. i've seen him myself up close as he is very curious when kayakers lunch on shore. it was 5 years ago and i'm shocked that he is still there, still alive. a documentary has been made about him and aired on the Nature of Things, CBC.  fascinating if wildlife is your jam.

I saw this guy years ago as we were leaving the island after a camping trip - we didn’t really believe what we were seeing and actually thought that someone had ditched a dog. He was mostly a rumor then. 

I’m super curious if he travels back to the “mainland” or if he gets all he needs from the Discovery/Chatham  Islands - the current can be treacherous!  Hope it works out with his lady, what a love story if it does!
